Background

Australian born and educated, Linda has lived in Cheshire since 1980, after 8 years in London working as a designer, painter and illustrator. She exhibited her paintings in London for several years and co-managed an Art Gallery, in Chelsea, for 4 years. She designed a large range of wildlife greetings cards, which sold internationally. Linda also designed for the pottery industry in Stoke on Trent for several years.

Since the early 90’s she has worked as an artist/maker/project director working in the community, on a broad range of celebratory arts projects;  creative consultation and issue based work, whilst continuing to paint. She also sings in acappella groups in both Sydney and UK

Linda believes the  Arts should be accessable to all.  She feels there are still not enough serious platforms for the ‘minorities’ in the arts and hopes to participate in the process of change. Linda feels there is an artist in all of us, whatever our percieved abilities or disabilities. Community Arts, and Consultation in the Community (using the creative arts), is a positive way of working towards that change.

Linda has worked with large local authorities, departments of education, arts and other voluntary sector organisations all over the UK. She has broad experience of project directing large community arts events.

Linda’s interests are social exclusion, racial equality, gender equality, urban regeneration, health issues and the way that participatory arts can express these issues within the framework of community building.
